Saturday Gravel – 24th August
Quote from JamesH on 19 August 2024, 13:50Saturday Gravel Ride – 24th August
Continuing our monthly Saturday gravel rides, all welcome! Suitable for gravel, cyclocross and mountain bikes (ebikes also welcome).
Meet in the Nethy Bridge Visitor Centre car park in time for a 09:30 start (note the change of start point from the initial post!). Plenty car parking space, start location here >> https://maps.app.goo.gl/vJ3kDb97TgV9bA1T9
Planned route is linked below but is very much a guide; we can amend on the fly depending on conditions/general consensus. The 32mi/51km route offers a good mix of flowy gravel trails, forest tracks and the odd tarmac section, and passes by the stunning An Lochan Uaine (Green Loch) after the Ryvoan Pass, before winding back down to Aviemore on the Old Logging Way. We’ll then pick up the Pine Marten trail up to Boat of Garten, and onto a final fling around Loch Garten woods leading back into Nethy Bridge.
There will (of course!) be a cafe stop at Nethy House, but this will be at the end of the ride so please ensure you have enough supplies for 2-3hrs riding.

Please come prepared with appropriate kit, tools & spares, and post below if you are coming. Any questions let me know here or on the Gravel WhatsApp group.
Hope to see you Saturday!
James
