Club 30 Gravel & Sauna Saturday 28th December 2024

Hi All,

For the last Saturday of 2024, how about a Club 30 GRAVEL and optional traditional Finnish post-ride SAUNA starting and finishing in Whitebridge.

The route starts and finishes at 09.30 from our place just outside Whitebridge, here: Google Maps, What3Words ///chap.marching.tornado – we are down the right of the two tracks, curling to the right, NOT  ‘Around Lochness’.

Please arrive from 08.45 of you would like a pre-ride tea/coffee. Parking is available and coffee/tea, cake and lentil soup will be available for the ride finish. If you would like a post-ride sauna, please bring your cozzie and a bath robe as it’s an outdoor barrel sauna – four people (at a squeeze) at a time and you only need about 15 mins.

The forecast for Saturday currently suggests that it’s going to be around 7C with the chance of sunshine. Please check the forecast closer to the time and dress accordingly.

The route is 19.6 miles/30.8km and includes a couple of short burn/river crossings (with stepping stones) and a short hike a bike. The route can be viewed and downloaded here:

Club 30 is intended to be a short gravel (30km) or road (30 miles) ride with the aim of it finishing by about 11.30/12.00.  The whole idea is to provide a fun, social ride on a Saturday, with an optional café stop at the end for anyone who wants one.  It will start and finish at the coffee stop so start points will vary depending on the route and routes will vary between gravel and road.  This is particularly suited to club members who might be returning after injury or illness and need a no pressure entry back into riding, or for folk who just can’t commit to the longer Saturday rides but still want to have a quick blast.  E-bikes are entirely welcome but you should be an experienced cyclist with group riding knowledge – message me with any questions on that front.
